Elder Uchtdorf's inspiration
Two weeks ago while speaking at the general Relief Society meeting, President Uchtdorf counseled sisters that we can overcome feelings of "discouragement, inadequacy and weariness" by 1) creating and 2) being compassionate. I have pondered these ideas many times, especially Pres. Uchdorf's suggestion that we create. He likened the satisfying effects of creation to the happiness that God feels. With this counsel in mind, I created something this week: a wizard costume for Jacob. After finishing the robe part, I thought about how genuinely satisfying it is to create. I will keep this testimony in mind the next time I feel discouraged or inadequate. And today? I'm creating a banana creme pie!

What a darling costume!! Thanks for your example!
that is a really great attitude!! I will definitely have to remind myself of the same... every time I create something.
ps and yes he said he had a cat in the wall... weird, huh?
I loved that talk -- I don't remember ever hearing creativity specifically addressed in a meeting like that, and thought it was very insightful. Elder Uchdorf seems to genuinely understand the women of the Church. I think doing something creative is great therapy for us, and we should keep that in mind.
Do you need someone to create a place for that pie to go? Cause I totally got your back.
I agree that was an inspiring talk. You are such a good example! The costume is adorable. I'm only beginning to think about Halloween costumes and you have already "created" one. I'm sure the pie was delicious too!
I am a huge believer of creating, hence.... I create nearly everyday... it is my therapy. thanks Amy, you are an inspiration!
